Tehran (ISNA) - In a phone conversation with his Syrian counterpart, Iranian Defense Minister, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Gharaei Ashtiani pointed to the recent terrorist attack on the graduation ceremony of the Syrian army officers in Homs Province, saying, "The illegal and illegitimate presence of foreign military forces in the region and Syria should come to an end as soon as possible".
During the phone talks with Syrian Defense Minister Ali Mahmoud Abbas, General Ashtiani said, "We stand by the Syrian people, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to send any kind of humanitarian medical assistance, both in terms of specialized human resources and medical equipment".
Emphasizing that these attacks are the result of continued intelligence, security and logistical support for terrorists aimed at preventing the realization of stability and complete security in Syria, General Ashtiani stated, "Undoubtedly, the responsibility for this tragic event lies with the foreign supporters of terrorist groups, including the occupiers of Syrian soil, who are causing instability in the region".
"With this terrorist attack, equations will change and there will be no more excuses, and the illegal and illegitimate presence of foreign forces in the region and Syria must come to an end as soon as possible," he added.
Syrian Defense Minister, for his part, expressed his gratitude for Iran's sympathy, saying, "Our enemies are your enemies. Today, the operation of the Palestinians can be the beginning of a great victory over enemies".
"Stability will not be established unless we put an end to terrorism in Syria. In this regard, we are always fighting against terrorists with the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran," he added.
