Syrian Constitution Committee meeting to be held early 2019

Moscow, Dec 19, IRNA -- The Russian Foreign Minister announced that the first meeting of the Syrian Constitution Committee is slated to be held early 2019.
Speaking to reporters at the end of the trilateral consultative meeting of Iran, Russia and Turkey in Geneva, Sergey Lavrov said these three countries as peace guarantors of Astana have agreed to hold the Constitution Committee meeting in the mentioned time.
In order to reach an overall agreement, the Constitution Committee should be based on collective compromise and constructive participation, he said.
The trilateral consultative meeting was held with the attendance of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif , his Russian and Turkish counterparts and UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
Earlier de Mistura thanked Iran, Russia and Turkey for their efforts on setting up a committee to draft a new constitution for Syria, saying that the process is still incomplete.
