Qasemi: US measures in Syria suspicious
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, June 12, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Monday that the US measures in Syria are suspicious to some extent and their sectional behaviors are not justifiable.
Speaking to reporters in his weekly press briefing, he said the Americans for many times have declared that they are in fight against terrorism, but the past performance proves that they lack honesty.
He advised them to mind their firm determination in the fight against Daesh (the ISIS terrorist group) and other terrorist groups instead of taking any other action inside Syria and fight against terrorism will be the final way out of this dilemma.
They should be more accountable in dealing with ongoing realities in the region and Syria, he said.
On Astana trilateral meeting, he said the new round of Syria talks, participated by Russia, Turkey and the Islamic Republic of Iran, is due to be held in the Kazakh capital, Astana within coming days.
"If participant countries reach required understanding in Astana meeting, this will lead to formation of Astana five," he said.
In macro and political issues it will be much easier to reach understanding, but other issues such as technical and creation of low-tension districts will be time consuming, Qasemi said.
In a related news, Russian foreign minister said on Monday that new round of Syria talks, is due to be held in the Kazakh capital, Astana, on June 20.
