TEHRAN (ISNA)- Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that Iran and Russia stressed keeping ceasefire in Syria and fight terrorist groups including the ISIL and Al-Nusra in the country, Russian Tass News Agency reported.

The statement came after meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy to the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov and Iranian officials here in Tehran.

The statement said that the two sides had been stressed that there is no effective solution to Syrian crisis which could settle the conflict in the country politically based on the Geneva Declaration published on July 30, 2012.

The two sides said that United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura should boost efforts to hold Syrian talks in Geneva without any pre-condition.
