23.08.2024

In the framework of implementation Memorandum of Understanding Between Turkey and the Russian Federation, joint Russian-Turkish joint patrols were held in the north-east of Syria. The distance of the patrol was 30km.

The Russian and Turkish units met at the Seyrek checkpoint and then a joint convoy moved along route chosen in advance.

The patrol comprised over 40 Russian and Turkish servicemen. The convoy was made up of Tigr, Typhoon, VPK-Ural armoured vehicles and Turkish-made Kipri armoured vehicles.

Russian Ka-52 and Mi-8 helicopters provided air support.

The patrol mission was to control the situation and to prevent the renewal of hostilities. For this purpose, Russian and Turkish servicemen observed a ten kilometres area.

The patrol was in regular mode, no violations were detected. The Turkish servicemen crossed the Seyrek Checkpoint to get to the territory of Turkey when the patrol was over.

The results of the Russian-Turkish patrol proved again that Russian presence in the Syrian Arab Republic guarantees peace and stability in the region.

'Today, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding between Russia and Turkey, a regular joint Russian-Turkish patrol was conducted in Al-Hasakah province near Qamishli in north-eastern Syria. Within one hour, the convoy travelled along a route of more than 30 kilometres and monitored the situation. More than 40 servicemen and 8 units of hardware from the Russian and Turkish sides took part in the patrol. Throughout the entire route, the convoy was escorted by helicopters of the army aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The patrol went on as normal, no violations were recorded,' said Georgiy, a serviceman of the Russian grouping of troops in the Syrian Arab Republic.
