Minister,
Dear friend,
Colleagues,
I am delighted to return to Tunisia and to be able to continue the conversation we started in Moscow. I remember the talks we had in the Russian capital on September 29, 2023, well. Back then, we were glad to accept your invitation and here we are today to fulfil these agreements.
We have an opportunity to discuss promising avenues for bilateral cooperation, including from an economic and humanitarian perspectives, as well as efforts to develop high-technology cooperation. Russia and Tunisia have shared a multifaceted relationship of friendship and mutual respect for decades.
You have just mentioned the principles underpinning your foreign policy. One of them consists of making sure that a partnership with one country does not develop at the expense of partnerships with other countries. We share the same traditions.
Russia never seeks to forge friendly ties with the aim of countering others. Unfortunately, our Western colleagues have been prone to making friends in opposition to others. I think that life itself will set the record straight. We will inevitably come to realise what peaceful coexistence means for the emerging multipolar world order. We have every reason to say that the Arab League is currently one of the cornerstones of this order, as we discussed in detail yesterday at the ministerial Russia-Arab Cooperation Forum. This trend will gather momentum moving forward. Today, we can discuss all these matters in detail.
Thank you for your invitation and hospitality.
