Mr Medvedev,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Colleagues, friends,
It is a great honour for me to speak at the international interparty forum timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the founding of the United Russia party.
At a time when the situation in the world remains extremely tense, it is especially important to unite the efforts of all those who are able to contribute to its improvement, not in words but deeds. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of interaction between political parties and associations. Representing the interests of millions of citizens, they serve as a vital link between the executive, the legislature and civil society. The flexibility inherent in party and parliamentary diplomacy is an important help in the daily work of foreign ministries.
I am pleased to note that United Russia, the leading political force in our country, continues to make its fruitful contribution to these common efforts. The geographical reach of its international activities is extensive, with partnerships established with dozens of political parties and movements on all continents. Today's event with the participation of numerous foreign guests is clear evidence of this. Such fruitful contacts are already yielding tangible practical results, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Russia, as the largest Eurasian and Euro-Pacific power and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, will continue to help strengthen global and regional security and stability in all dimensions, and work to confront the many challenges of today's world on the solid basis of international law, primarily the principles of the UN Charter. Among our unconditional priorities are combatting racism and xenophobia, aggressive nationalism and neo-Nazism, as well as any other forms of intolerance and discrimination, including ethnic and linguistic. We will continue to pay increased attention to defending the cultural and civilisational diversity of the modern world and upholding socioeconomic human rights, including a just and humane solution to migration problems.
We are ready to work closely with everyone who expresses interest. I hope that activities of United Russia's Commission on International Cooperation and Support for Compatriots Living Abroad, which was established at President Vladimir Putin's instruction and which I am to head, will also contribute to our common cause and help maintain an atmosphere of friendship, trust and mutual understanding between peoples.
I would like to wish you constructive discussions and all the best.
