
Pakistan's Navy cmdr. calls for expansion of military, defense ties with Iran

Islamabad, IRNA -- Chief of Pakistan's Naval Staff Naveed Ashraf has said that ties with Iran is important for his country and called for expansion of cooperation between the two neighbors in defense and military fields.
Ashraf, who assumed command of Pakistan's Navy a month ago, was speaking with Iran's Ambassador to Islamabad Reza Amiri-Moghaddam on Wednesday.
The ambassador, on his part, said that the navies of Iran and Pakistan will continue their cooperation on training issues.
He also elaborated on capabilities of the Naval Force of the Islamic Republic's Army, especially its 86th flotilla which completed an eight-month global tour in May 2023, passing through seven seas, seven straits, and three oceans.
Amiri-Moghaddam also invited the Pakistani military official to visit Iran, which was welcomed by Ashraf.
