Second China-made Type 054A/P frigate for Pakistan is launched

SHANGHAI, Feb.1 -- The second Type-054A/P frigate for the Pakistani Navy, made by China, was launched at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai on January 29. Commodore Azfar Humayun, Chief Naval Overseer of the Pakistani Navy, attended the launch ceremony.
A representative of the Pakistani Navy said in an interview with the Global Times, a newspaper under the People's Daily of China, that the launch ceremony coincides with the completion of 70 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations and reinforces the tradition of mutual trust and friendship between both sides. He thanked the China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) and the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard for their commitment and hard work in the difficult times of the ongoing global pandemic to keep this major program on track.
According the report by the Global Times, the Pakistani Navy said on January 29 that the four Type 054A/P frigates ordered by the Pakistani Navy in 2017 are currently under construction as planned, and the first one was already launched in August 2020 and is currently being outfitted in the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard.
