Blast in ruling party meeting kills 5 in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 28, IRNA -- At least five people were killed near the venue of a public meeting of ruling party in Pakistan's northwest Monday, police and hospital sources said.
Reports said that the bomb was attached to a motorcycle and detonated as the people were coming out of the venue of the public meeting in Nowshehra, a town some 40 kilometers from Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Chief Minister of the province, Amir Haider Khan Hoti also addressed the public meeting of his Awami National Party (ANP).
TV channels reported that the Chief Minister left the venue minutes before the blast. He had addressed the public meeting and then left in a helicopter, police said.
Geo TV reported that policemen were among those killed and injured.
Reports said that the blast was carried out through a remote control device.
