11 militants killed in Kurram tribal region

Islamabad, Feb 10, IRNA -- Pakistani forces killed 11 militants in Kurram tribal region on Friday, local media reported.
The security agencies have been involved in operation against the militants in Kurram agency over the past few weeks.
The military fired artillery shells at three suspected hideouts in the Mamozai area of the agency killing 11 militants and wounding 19.
The death toll could not be independently verified and militants often dispute official accounts.
Officials say that the area is a stronghold of the militants.
Locals say that Taliban militants have increased their activities in Kurram tribal region, bordering Afghanistan.
Taliban militants from other areas have also arrived in the region and set up hideouts in remote and mountainous areas.
