US drone kills two people in Pakistan
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Islamabad, June 26, IRNA -- A US drone strike killed two suspected militants and wounded three others in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal region early Saturday, locals said.
The missiles hit a house in Mir Ali, a main town in the region, they said.
The US has stepped up drone strikes in North Waziristan region, a stronghold of Taliban, in recent months.
Pakistan is under tremendous US pressure to launch operation in North Waziristan as it believes Taliban are planning cross-border attacks in the tribal region.
Locals said that the house was completely destroyed in the strike, adding that US spy planes were flying over the area after the attack.
More than 900 people have been killed in over 100 drone strikes in Pakistan since August 2008.
