Car bomb kills soldier, injures 7 in SW Pakistan

Islamabad, June 21, IRNA -- A Pakistani soldier was killed and seven others were injured in a car bomb blast in Pakistan’s southwestern city of Quetta on Sunday, police said.

The car bomb was exploded through a remote control as the vehicle of army passed through Sariab Road, they said.

The blast injured eight soldiers who were shifted to a military hospital in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province.

One soldier ‘Deedar’ died in hospital of wounds, police said. Two soldiers are stated to be in critical condition.

No group claimed responsibility but anti-government nationalist groups are blamed for attacks on security forces.

Two civilians were also injured in the blast, police said.

The army vehicle was heading to a camp in Much, a main town in Balochistan when came under attack.

Quetta has seen targeted killings of non-locals in recent months, forcing several people from other areas to leave.
