Militants attack hospital, killed 12 people in Pakistan

Islamabad, June 1, IRNA -- A group of armed militants attacked an hospital in the Pakistani city of Lahore late Monday night and killed at least 12 people including four policemen, hospital officials said.
Police believed that a group of four gunmen stormed Jinnah hospital to get freed an militant who was injured on Saturday in clashes with police during gunbattle at worship places of a religious minority sect.
Principal of Jinnah hospital Javed Akram said that the militants attacked people outside the emergency ward and killed relatives of the patients. Akram said that 12 people were killed in the attack.
Four policemen, who are thought to be guarding the injured militant from the May 28th attack, were also killed in the attack, he said.
There was no word from police about the injured militants.
District Coordination Officer, Lahore, Sajjad Bhutta said that the attackers fled and the police cleared the hospital.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that he does not know if the injured militant was under treatment in the same hospital.
