Pakistan has deployed regular army and paramilitary forces along its unfrequented routes leading to Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province and sealed the border, media reports said on Monday.
The step was taken to check infiltration into the agency from across the border, where US-led forces have launched an operation against the Taliban, reports said.
The local administration in Bajur tribal agency had convened a meeting of Mamond tribal elders and took them into confidence over the deployment of army and Frontier Corps personnel in the border areas.
The authorities have also ordered an increase in the number of paramilitary troops and Frontier Corps personnel to check
cross-border movement in the agency.
Eyewitnesses in the area said that several contingents of the army had reached the agency and had taken positions along the border in various locations.
Residents of the area said that the Frontier Corps had also started work on a road project to make access to the border areas possible.
Officials said that the army and paramilitary forces had been deployed to far-flung areas to secure the country's border and check infiltration from Afghanistan.
