Pakistan seeks US helicopters for combating terrorism: report

Pakistan has urged the United States to provide its interior ministry with an air squadron comprising 10 helicopters and two planes, a TV channel reported on Sunday.
The director-general of the Interior Ministry's Crisis Management Cell, Brigadier Javed Iqbal Cheema, made the disclosure to reporters in his office, Geo television reported.
Cheema returned on Saturday after attending a meeting in Washington of the Pakistan-US Joint Working Group set up to combat terrorism.
Cheema said that the US would be training functionaries of law enforcement agencies in Pakistan involved in the battle against terrorism.
The US had all praise for Pakistan's initiatives against terrorism.
Cheema said that development projects in tribal areas, law and order situation, police reforms, automated fingerprints,
identification system besides other related matters came under discussion during the meeting.
The meeting also deliberated on such important matters as thwarting drug smuggling.
