Pakistan-Musharraf Attack Case
A court in Pakistan on Monday admitted appeals for hearing from four low-ranking air force employees against their death sentences they had been awarded for planning attack on President Musharraf in December 2003, defence lawyer said.
A military court last year awarded death sentence to six persons for their involvement in the murder attack on December 25, 2003, which took the lives of 14 persons, but Musharraf survived the attack.
The court had also awarded life imprisonment to two persons and acquit a woman in the same case.
The military court has already dismissed appeals from the convicts, including a Russian national Ahmed Ikhlas, against their death penalty last month.
The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench on Monday adjourned the hearing without giving any date for next hearing, after admitting the appeals.
The Court in its earlier hearing dismissed their appeals on the ground that appeals against the death sentence awarded by the military court are beyond their jurisdiction but admitted their appeals on Monday.
Defence lawyers, Colonel (R) Muhammad Akram and Hashmat Habib said that the Judge of Lahore High Court, Justice Akhtar Shabir dismissed objection from the Court's office and accepted their appeals for regular hearing.
