Six Killed in Pakistan Violence
02 April 2006
Pakistani officials say a series of explosions in the troubled southwestern province of Baluchistan has killed at least six people and wounded more than 25.
Authorities say the first blast hit a state-run dairy farm in the town of Kohlu Sunday, killing three people and wounding 16.
Hours later, a bomb explosion at a gas exploration site southeast of the provincial capital, Quetta, killed two police officers and wounded eight others.
Elsewhere, a tractor hit a land mine on a dirt road, killing the driver.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but authorities blame ethnic Baluch tribesmen who want greater autonomy and a bigger share of the profits from the region's natural resources.
Meanwhile, pro-Taleban militants in the North Waziristan region fired rockets at Pakistani troops late Saturday, killing one and wounding at least four.
