Iran ready to help Libya’s new government

Tripoli, Nov 3, IRNA -- Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in a meeting here on Thursday with the head of Libya’s National Transitional Council voiced Iran’s readiness for transfer of experiences to people and government of Libya in different fields.
Salehi is currently on a visit to Libya to convey felicitations of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iranian nation to Muslim nation of Libya on the occasion of victor of the revolution in that country.
Iranian foreign minister said that Tehran is determined to expand relations ties with Tripoli.
Salehi expressed hope that Libyan nation will have unity and work for construction of a developed country based on social justice.
Emphasizing on recognition of the new Libyan government which has been established in the light of Libya’s popular revolution, he said that Iran has on its agenda enhancement of ties with Libya’s new government in different eras.
Referring to the case of Lebanon’s Shia senior cleric, Imam Musa Sadr who disappeared in Libya in 1978, Salehi called on Libya’s new government to cooperate for gaining information about Imam Musa Sadr.
NTC’s head, Mustafa Abdel Jalil for his part while thanking the Iranian high-ranking officials for their congratulatory messages on the occasion of the victory of Libya’s revolution, sent his greetings to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Referring to the friendly relations between Iran and Libya’s National Transitional Council in the course of Libya’s revolution, Abdel Jalil thanked donations by the Iranian nation and government, particularly the hospitality granted to a group of injured Libyan revolutionaries during their stay in Iran.
Abdel Jalil emphasized on the importance of avoiding disarray in Muslim World.
Commenting on the fate of Lebanon’s senior Shia cleric, Abdel Jalil pointed out that the situation of Imam Musa Sadr is under investigation and Libya’s new government pays heed to Imam Musa’s fate.
In August 1978, al-Sadr and two of his companions Sheikh Muhammad Yaacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine departed for Libya to meet with Libyan government officials. The three were never heard from again.
