Colleagues, friends,
One of the sections of the next, October issue of The International Affairs magazine is dedicated to an important date, the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
I am convinced that we have much to show to the Russian and Kazakhstani public. Over the past three decades, through our joint efforts we have been able not only to maintain but also to strengthen the centuries-old ties of friendship and good-neighbourliness that unite our peoples. And on this basis, we have been able to build a modern, dynamic model of interstate interaction in all spheres of bilateral cooperation, as well as on various multilateral platforms.
Today, the relations between our two nations continue to progress in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance. Major joint projects in sectors of vital importance for our economies as well as in science and education are underway. The advantages of the transit potential of Russia and Kazakhstan are put to good use. Ties between small and medium-sized businesses are expanding. Cooperation is growing along the world's longest land border.
A striking example of a truly strategic partnership is the joint use of the Baikonur launch site. The city of the same name can rightly be considered a symbol of Russian-Kazakhstani friendship and privileged science-intensive cooperation.
The two countries actively promote cultural and humanitarian exchanges. The Days of Russia in Kazakhstan are organised on a regular basis, as are the Days of Kazakhstan in Russia, which will be held in Moscow, Astrakhan and Kazan this anniversary year.
I would like to highlight the fruitful cooperation between Moscow and Astana in the Eurasian space. We take systematic steps to deepen integration within the Eurasian Economic Union and to strengthen regional security and stability, primarily through the CSTO. We implement many mutually beneficial initiatives within our common association, the CIS.
In this regard, the role of the trust-based dialogue between our leaders, the heads of government, and the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan can hardly be overestimated.
We and our Kazakhstani friends look to the future of our relations with optimism. No one can drive a wedge between us. The level of mutual trust that has been reached allows us to discuss frankly any, even most difficult problems that life occasionally puts before our countries, and to agree on mutually acceptable ways of solving them. At the same time, we are not going to be satisfied with what has already been achieved. We will continue to work together in order to take bilateral relations to new frontiers for the benefit of our fraternal peoples and in the name of strengthening regional security and stability.
