Iraq, Iran sign deal on defense cooperation

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran and Iraq signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create national Army in Iraq and protect territorial integrity and security in the country.
The agreement stressed mutual cooperation between the two sides for formation of national army in Iraq to keep its territorial integrity and security as well as bilateral consultations between the two sides on Iraqi security.
Iran and Iraq also highlighted consultation and exchange of delegations for providing regional security as well as bilateral cooperation on fighting terrorism.
'Security condition in the region is important for us. Because, the Dominant System is threatening the regional stability and security through all-out plot and use of takfiri-Zionist stream,' said Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan in a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Khaled al-Obeidi here in Tehran.
Iran and Iraq have to expand cooperation in the region in dealing with and eradicating threat of terrorism, he said.
Khaled al-Obeidi, for his part, said Iraq's security is intertwined with regional security, and stressed bilateral cooperation between Iran and Iraq to fight terrorism.
