Attacks kill 5, injure 20 in Iraq

At least 5 people have been killed and 20 others injured in separate attacks in Iraq, according to Iraqi security sources.
On Thursday evening, a bomber rammed an explosives-laden car into a police patrol vehicle in Tuz Khurmatu, 210 kilometers (130 miles) north of Baghdad.
The attack killed two policemen and injured 19 people -- 15 civilians and four policemen, said Shalal Abdool, the mayor of Tuz Khormato.
Earlier in the day, in a southeastern neighborhood of Baghdad, unidentified gunmen fired upon a moving car, leaving one physician dead and another injured, a police official said.
Also on Thursday, a female medical doctor was shot dead while travelling in her car in the Zafaraniyah district in southern Baghdad, the police official stated, adding that a school security guard was also killed by gunmen in the same district.
The incidents are the latest in a string of attacks across Iraq that have left more than 2,000 people dead since the beginning of April.
On Wednesday, bombings and shootings killed at least 17 people across the country.
On Tuesday, a wave of attacks in Iraq, mostly targeting Shia Muslims, killed some 56 people and injured dozens more.
On Monday, 33 people were killed and dozens of others injured in two bomb attacks in the country.
On June 30, a bomb attack targeting football players and their fans in Iraq killed twelve people and injured dozens of others in the Nahrawan neighborhood of southeast Baghdad.
