- IRAQ / ELECTIONS VOA 03 Jan 2005 -- Following last week's withdrawal from the elections of the largest Iraqi Sunni Muslim party, divisions have deepened in the country over the question of whether to hold the elections on January 30th as scheduled. Some moderate Shiite politicians are so alarmed by the rising sectarian tension in the country, they are now joining moderate Sunni Arabs in calling for a delay in the elections.
- Sunni Party Warns Could Reject Iraqi Constitution RFE/RL 03 Jan 2005 -- Iraq's main Sunni Muslim party, which has already announced a boycott of the 30 January elections, now says it might also reject the new constitution that is scheduled to be drawn up after the vote.
