- Over 340 tons of high explosives missing from Iraq, UN nuclear watchdog says UN News Centre 25 Oct 2004 -- More than 340 tons of high explosives that had been subject to United Nations monitoring were stolen or looted from a government facility in Iraq, the chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported today.

- IRAQ: Political, ethnic tensions halt IDP resettlement in Kirkuk IRIN 25 Oct 2004 -- International NGOs planning major projects to help internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the northern city of Kirkuk have had to suspend work after an agreement reached by the city's three main ethnic groups collapsed amid mutual recriminations.
