  • COALITION FORCES TARGET IRAQI MILITARY COMMUNICATION FACILITIES 26 Jan 2003 -- In response to Iraqi acts against Coalition aircraft monitoring compliance of United Nations Security Council Resolutions over Southern Iraq, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH Coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons today to target five cable repeater sites that can be used for communications in targeting Coalition aircraft. The cable repeater sites were located between Al Kut, approximately 100 miles southeast of Baghdad, and An Nasiriyah, approximately 170 miles southeast of Baghdad. The strikes occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. EST.
  • COALITION FORCES DROP LEAFLETS IN SOUTHERN IRAQ 26 Jan 2003 -- Coalition aircraft dropped 360,000 leaflets of two specific types over several areas in southern Iraq at about 5:45 a.m. EST today.
