  • President Stresses Need for Strong Iraq Resolution White House 01 Oct 2002 -- Well, I -- first of all, I appreciate all the members of Congress working to come up with a resolution. It sends a clear signal to the world that this country is determined to disarm Iraq, and thereby bring peace to the world. Members in both parties are working to get a consensus. Secondly -- and we'll continue to work with members of Congress. But I don't want to get a resolution which ties my hands, a resolution which is weaker than that which was passed out of the Congress in 1998. The Congress in 1998 passed a very strong resolution

That's at the individual level.
  • Iraq No-Fly Zone Pilot Interview with WHIO Radio 01 Oct 2002-- Military Official: To some degree it's always dangerous. You've got to understand that there's a price on our skulls every time we go out there, and when you look at the guys who are going in there today, they're getting shot at every single day. And by and large that's been going on since the end of 1998, but it's gotten more intense over the past couple of months.
  • A Pilot Who Patrolled Over the Iraqi No-Fly Zone Interviews with KEYS/KKBA Radio 01 Oct 2002-- Petruka: Are they getting any better? I don't really think they are. Are they getting more innovative? Yes. Possibly more aggressive, and certainly more willing to at least take a shot and do some harassment fire, but it's difficult -- and they certainly learn from our actions. And the risk to us is still fairly high, but I wouldn't say they're getting any better at it. But they are trying awfully hard, and they're working to try and find new and different ways of bringing an airplane down, and they definitely adapt.
