  • COALITION FORCES STRIKE IRAQI SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSLE SITES 27 Sept 2002-- In response to Iraqi hostile acts against Coalition aircraft monitoring the Southern No-Fly Zone, Operation SOUTHERN WATCH Coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons today to strike a surface-to-air missile control radar and a surface-to-air missile launcher near Tallil and an air defense operations center near Al Amarah. Tallil is 170 miles south southeast of Baghd, and Al Amarah is 165 miles east southeast of Baghdad, at approximately 4:30 pm EDT.
