Iranian Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Zahra Behrouz-Azar says the Islamic Republic has been a victim of "blind" terrorism for years.
In a message on Sunday, Behrouz-Azar expressed her condolences over a terrorist attack by militants from the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group on a courthouse in Iran's southeastern city of Zahedan on Saturday, which killed six people, including a woman and a one-year-old child, and injured 23 others.
In her message, Behrouz-Azar said the Islamic Republic continues to pay the price of resistance, independence, and dignity with the blood of its purest people.
She added that the killing of women and children is not only a sign of "sheer cruelty," but also serves as a warning to those who still believe silence can be an option in the face of terrorism.
The Iranian vice president emphasized that silence vis-à-vis the killing of innocent children and women is a "betrayal of humanity and disrespect for all noble moral values."
The attack in Zahedan was not just a terrorist attack but an effort to target the "foundations of life and hope in this land."
In a message on Saturday, First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said the nation's vigilance prevented the terrorists from obtaining their sinister goals.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a victim of terrorism, and unfortunately, those who claim to advocate for human rights remain silent in the face of the terrorist operations by various groups and do not speak out," Aref added.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also said on Sunday that the "blind terrorist crime in Zahedan was an act of revenge on the people, who with their solidarity and unity, resisted the military invasion of Zionists and Americans on dear Iran."
