Tehran, IRNA -- Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni has ordered a probe into a terrorist attack on the judiciary building in the southeastern city of Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan province.
Momeni, in a phone call with provincial governor, Mansour Bijar, while offering condolences to the people and the families of the victims on Saturday, asked him to follow up on the dimensions of this act of terrorism.
He also called on officials to reach out to the injured and address the situation of those who had lost their lives in the attack.
A group of armed terrorists launched the attack in the early morning rush hour, leaving six people, including three members of the courthouse security team dead and 22 others injured.
Three terrorists were also killed in clashes with security forces.
The so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack that first directed at the courthouse and then expanded indiscriminately to target civilians in the vicinity.
Zahedan has witnessed sporadic violence by armed groups operating near the borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan. The same terror group had launched a deadly ambush in October 2024, killing 10 police officers in Taftan County, one of the most fatal incidents in the province in recent months.
