'Damavand', 'Dena' destroyers to join Iran's navy fleet

Kish, Aug 5, IRNA -- Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral, Hossein Khanzadi said on Monday that new home made destroyers 'Damavand' and 'Dena' will become operational in the northern and southern districts of Iran's navy fleet this year.
Iranian military top official added that the destroyer Damavand was made by Iran's navy experts in less than 18 months and it has a novel radar which makes distant targets available.
He said that a rocket launcher system will be also unveiled this year.
Referring to the sanctions imposed on Iran, he stressed that independence in manufacturing military equipment is of prime importance to Iran.
Novel Radar Techniques and Applications presents the state-of-the-art in advanced radar, with emphasis on ongoing novel research and development and contributions from an international team of leading radar experts.
