IRGC missile strikes showcases national authority

Tehran, June 21, IRNA -- The correct and timely missile operation carried out by IRGC against the headquarters and logistics of the Takfiri terrorists in Deir Ez-Zor, eastern Syria conveyed a clear message to terrorist groups and the regional countries.

Based on article 51 of the UN Charter, any country attacked by terrorists, has the right to defend itself and the likely military act will be considered as legitimate.

Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defense if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security.

Measures taken by Members in the exercise of this right of self-defense shall be immediately reported to the Security Council and shall not in any way affect the authority and responsibility of the Security Council under the present Charter to take at any time such action as it deems necessary in order to maintain or restore international peace and security.

The Sunday night missile attack which has also been performed in line with national security, national interests and also for legitimate defense, were reflected worldwide.

Fighting terrorism has been high on Iran's agenda since the emergence of Daesh terrorist group and over the past 38 years as well.

The operation has been accomplished as a punitive act and in retaliation for Daesh terrorist attack targeting Iran's Majlis (parliament) and Imam Khomeini Mausoleum.

The firm decision taken by Iranian senior officials to give a crushing response to Takfiri terrorists was in fact a serious reaction to US illegal measures as regard to imposing fresh sanctions on Iran.

Iran's retaliatory action against Daesh has also led to deterrence against proxy wars.

The world powers waging proxy and terrorist wars to guarantee their objectives in the Middle East.

Despite the crippling sanctions imposed on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC has been able to launch mid-range, precision-guided missile.

The message of the revolutionary and punishing move is totally clear; IRGC is sending a warning to the Takfiri terrorists and their regional and extra-regional sponsors that if the evil and satanic measures against the Iranian nation are repeated, the revolutionary anger and flames of IRGC's revenge will engulf the perpetrators and lead the criminals to hell.

During the operation, a number of surface to surface mid-range missiles targeted Takfiri terrorists from IRGC's bases in Kermanshah and Kordestan provinces, western Iran.

A large number of the terrorists are reported to be perished and their equipment and arms were destroyed.
