IRGC deputy navy commander: Iran welcomes joint drill with neighbors

Kish Island, Sept 27, IRNA -- Deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Alireza Tangsiri announced that Iran welcomes joint military drills with neighboring countries.

"Given the prevalent security in the Persian Gulf, the Islamic Republic of Iran extends the hand of brotherhood and friendship to the neighboring countries and would welcome holding joint military maneuvers with the neighboring and Muslim countries.

"We believe that the Persian Gulf is our home and there is also the needed security there: therefore the neighboring countries should join hands to uphold the regional security," he added.

He described the presence of trans-regional countries in the Persian Gulf as dangerous, and said, "Iran has a legitimate presence in the region and other regional can also be present in the Persian Gulf.
