Iran Army to promote air defense radar network

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran plans to add 23 mm cannons to the radar network of air defense of the Army Ground Force, said an Iranian Army Ground Force Commander general Hesameddin Abbaspour.
"The cannons will target the objectives and start shooting," he said.
The Ground Force is responsible for air space and low-altitude defense at the time of war and peace, using its anti-aircraft systems, he said.
"The Army ground Force defense is responsible for protecting its combat force at the time of war, and at the time of peace, it protects the country's vital resources in low altitude under an integrated defense system."
He also said that the Army Ground Force is equipped with shoulder-launched missile systems and 23 mm artillery systems in low altitude. The systems are professional warfare and enjoy the required coverage in low altitude.
They are able of destroying Cruise missiles as well, Abbaspour said.
