TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated that the Iranian nation is serious about employment of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
"The Iranian nation has a serious will for use of peaceful nuclear technology," he said in a meeting with Portuguese Foreign Minister Rui Machete here in Tehran.
"The issue (Iranian nuclear issue) is a totally political issue whose settlement needs a political will and decision by the two sides. Off course, we have the will to sort the issue out as soon as possible," he said.
Rouhani continued that Iranian nuclear program is entirely peaceful. "Pressure on Iran is meaningless. Pressure and sanction is a two-edged sword which harm the two sides."
Rui Machete, for his part, highlighted the significance of success of talks between Iran and G5+1, saying, "I believe that success in the negotiations can lead to establishment of enormous cooperation between the two sides through trust and confidence."
He noted that European countries are eager for obtaining satisfactory results from the talks.
Iran and the P5+1 countries -- the US, France, Britain, China, Russia and Germany – are in talks to secure a final comprehensive deal over Tehran's nuclear work.
Since an interim deal was agreed in Geneva in November 2013, the negotiating sides have missed two deadlines to ink a final agreement.
Tehran and the six countries now seek to reach a high-level political agreement by March 1 and to confirm the full technical details of the accord by July 1.
