Defense Ministry efforts lead to Iran's stability: Commander
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA -- A senior military commander said on Tuesday that the stability of the country is resulted from efforts made by experts of Defense Ministry who succeeded to properly equip armed forces under the difficult situations created by the Western sanctions.
Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami made the remarks in a local gathering.
"If Iran is considered a safe haven in the present challenge-stricken region of Asia, it is highly resulted from the resistance and efforts of its Armed Forces that are fully and properly equipped by the Defense Ministry," he said.
Noting that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has endorsed the Ministry's four-year plan, Commander -Hatami said according to the Leader, the Armed Forces personnel should be "faithful, revolutionary, skillful, honorable and courageous."
"Armed Forces are responsible for safeguarding an establishment which is based on Islam therefore, those who are to defend such establishment should ideologically be qualified," Hatami added.
He said that moral qualification of the personnel is equally important as their ideological conditions.
All branches of Iran's Armed Forces (including the Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Police) fall under the command of General Headquarters of Armed Forces.
The Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics is responsible for planning logistics and funding of the armed forces. It is not involved with in-the-field military operational command.
