TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran needs 190.000 enrichment Separative Work Units (SWUs) to meet Bushehr nuclear power plant's annual fuel, said Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi.
'The measurement criterion for enrichment is SWU or Separative Work Units which shows the separation capacity of a centrifuge. Therefore, we determine enrichment based on SWU not based on number or type of centrifuge machines,' Salehi said.
'We need 190.000 SWUs to meet annual fuel of Bushehr power plant. It means if our machineries' capacity equals 10 SWUs, 19.000 centrifuges are needed. Now capacity of Iran's centrifuges equals 24 SWUs, therefore if we divide 190.000 to 24, we need more than 7.000 centrifuges to meet fuel needs of Bushehr power plant for one year.'
