Iran's Army Ground Forces 'on alert' in western borders

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Deputy Head of Ground Forces of Iranian Army for Coordination Affairs said the forces in western borders of the country are 'on alert', following developments underway in Iraq due to presence of extremist militants in the country.
'The ground forces in western and southwestern of the country (Iran) are on alert,' said General Ali Arasteh.
He also said required actions have been taken in the western and southwestern borders.
In similar remarks, Deputy Commander of Iranian Army Ground Forces General Kiumarth Heidari said that the forces have been watching western borders to control and dominate the region.
He reiterated that the forces would give 'tough and due' response to threats, 'Off course we believe that there is no threat against our borders.'
Heidari noted that the forces are watching Iraqi developments and would fulfill their 'legal obligations' whenever the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei) and army commanders allow.
