Amano releases new Iran report

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Vienna, Aug 28, IRNA -- IAEA Chief Yukiya Amano's new report on Iran has been put at the disposal of the IAEA Board of Governors.

The report touches on several main points, including increase in the number of centrifuges and start of fuel production for Arak reactor.

Amano also reported that Iran has downsized the volume of 20 percent UF6 production, turning part of it into U308 and fuel sheet.

On the eve of release of the new report, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had proposed Amano to deal with Iran's program with a realistic approach, with an aim of solving the issue.

Zarif said dealing the issue with a view of identifying Iran's nuclear program and fianlly removing disputes, I believe there are no dark points in Iran's nuclear program to go unanswered. 'The IAEA needs to find a final solution without taking into account some political considerations, imposed on the IAEA from outside, and only view it based on realities and Iran's belief that nuclear weapons are useless for the country. In our view, there is a possibility to reach conclusion.'

Diplomats in Vienna believe that Amano's new report is softer in tone than the previous ones aiming to pave the way for future Iran-IAEA talks and Tehran-G5+1 negotiations.

Meanwhile, the IAEA has announced that the 11th round of talks with Iran would be held in Vienna on September 27.
