Iran appoints new ambassador to IAEA

Tehran, Aug 27, IRNA -- President Hassan Rohani on Tuesday appointed Reza Najafi as new Iranian ambassador to Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) upon a proposal by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Najafi has previously served as deputy director general of Foreign Ministry's Department for Political and International Affairs, head of Disarmament and International Security Office of Foreign Ministry, Iran's representative to the UN Disarmament Committee in New York and Iran's deputy representative to Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
He has also been member of Iranian teams at international conferences such as a conference to review nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and IAEA Board of Governors.
