18,000 centrifuges working in Iran

TEHRAN (ISNA) -- Former Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereydoun Abbasi announced on Sunday that some 18,000 centrifuges have been installed across the country and are working.

'The number of centrifuges and its exact tally is presented by the IAEA inspectors in the organization's reports, but I can say that we have had over 17,000 centrifuges of the first generation type, over 10,000 of which are working and 7000 are ready to be launched,' Abbasi said in a ceremony.

He further added 1,000 centrifuge machines have been installed and ready to be operated, and totally 18,000 centrifuges have been installed and are operating.

Former Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi assumed the responsibility of the AEOI in the ceremony.
