US felicitates Iranian nation on beginning of Pres Rowhani's tenure

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

New York, Aug 4, IRNA -- The White House reacted cautiously positive to Sunday oath-taking ceremony of President Hassan Rowhani, announcing readiness for entering talks with new Iranian government to solve nuclear issue.

According to IRNA, in a communiqué read out by the White House spokesman Jay Carney, the White House has described the beginning of President Rowhani's tenure as 'an opportunity for Iran to act quickly to resolve the international community's deep concerns over Iran's nuclear program'.

The White House communiqué on the occasion reiterates, "On the occasion of Hojjatoleslam Dr. Hassan Rouhani's inauguration today as the Islamic Republic of Iran's seventh president, we again congratulate the Iranian people for making their voices heard during Iran's election.

The US official statement ends arguing, 'Should this new government choose to engage substantively and seriously to meet its international obligations and find a peaceful solution to this issue, it will find a willing partner in the United States.'

In his Sunday oath-taking ceremony at the Islamic Iranian Parliament President Hassan Rowhani addressed the west, saying, 'Iran is ready for cooperation on our country's nuclear issue, but the west needs to talk with Iran prestigiously, instead of speaking the language of sanctions.'
