Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi has unveiled the country’s first flight simulator of Iran-140 passenger aircraft.

“Since pilot training for the Iran-140 commercial aircraft requires the use of flight simulators, the skilled and experienced Iranian aviation experts at Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries Company succeeded in the design and manufacture of the sophisticated simulation system despite the [US-led] international sanctions [against Iran],” Vahidi said on Monday.

He further stated that the simulator is a combination of aviation software and hardware technologies.

According to General Vahidi, the design and manufacture of the flight simulator is entirely based on domestic knowledge and technology in compliance with all international standards and requirements.

He also emphasized that Iran is the only Middle East country capable of totally designing and manufacturing mobile flight simulators with home-grown technology and among few countries across the world enjoying this technology.

The Iranian defense minister noted that the Iranian simulator also has an expansive visual system and an actual cockpit, adding that one of its key features is that it can simulate all aircraft systems, flight conditions and pilot training in emergency situations.

Vahidi further added that the flight simulator is the first standard simulator of its kind and has received the quality and operation license from the Islamic Republic’s Civil Aviation Industry.
