Tehran, Dec 3, IRNA -- Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced Monday that the Iranian flotilla is moving towards Port Sudan.

Sayyari made the remarks in a ceremony commemorating Navy Week, started on November 27, during which he lauded efforts made by a number of naval forces.

Sayyari said the Iranian flotilla is now patrolling Red Sea waters, and will depart for Port Sudan.

The commander added that the aim of this operation is to maintain stability in the free waters and carry the message of peace and friendship.

Iran's berthing at different world places including Sudan will lead to promotion of cooperation among countries, added the commander.

He further stressed the importance of presence of the Iranian naval forces in the international waters including the Indian Ocean through which one third of trade exchanges is taking place.
