Foreign forces in region, source of insecurity- defense minister

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA -- Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Saturday that presence of western forces in the region is the cause of insecurity.

Asked about security agreements inked by the US and certain regional states, Vahidi told IRNA that Iran believes that the presence of western countries in the region endangers regional security.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has never been interfering in the internal affairs of other nations, he said, stressing that regional countries should ensure their internal security.

The minister reiterated that the real security will be brought to the region only through further cooperation of the regional countries.
