Navy commander: Iran has successfully turned sanctions into opportunities

Qeshm, Nov 15, IRNA -- Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Thursday that it is for 33 years that Iran has been faced with various kinds of sanctions but it has managed to change all these sanctions into opportunities.

Speaking to reporters, he said building of advanced destroyers by Iranian experts proves that Iran has successfully turned the threats and sanctions into opportunities.

In the field of 'marine sciences' Iran is ahead of other regional countries and this was achieved after triumph of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, he said.

In the past Iran lacked such capabilities but now it is building new types of advanced destroyers which can play an active roles in open seas, said the commander.

Iranian navy fleets are now patrolling international waters, something which requires high scientific knowledge, he said.

The activities of Iranian naval fleets go beyond Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz , said the commander.
