Moscow, April 17, IRNA -- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and the country’s chief nuclear negotiator Sergey Riabkov said on Tuesday Russia believes in an innovative approach to Iran's nuclear issue.
He told IRNA that Russia is well aware of the important role a stable Iran for the stability of the region and therefore it is doing its utmost within the framework of G5+1 to solve Iran’s nuclear issue diplomatically.
“Moscow like Iran favors a diplomatic solution to the issue and therefore it closely follows up the case,' Riabkov said.
He said Iran and Russia share many historical commonalties and both countries have similar opportunities and threats as two regional powers.
“A rapid solution to Iran nuclear case is as important to Tehran as to Moscow and benefits both and consequently Moscow strives hard to find an innovative solution to the issue,” the deputy foreigm minister said.
Riabkov described Istanbul talks as a basis for recognizing Iran’s nuclear rights enshrined in the Non-proliferation Treaty by G5+1 and said fortunately Iran and the group could reach a good conclusion about Iran’s nuclear programs.
He added that Russia had already proposed a step-by-step solution for Iran’s nuclear issue in 2008 and fortunately today we see the proposal being materialized.
Russian chief nuclear negotiator denounced negative propaganda against Iran and said the issue is now on its right track and that any military scenario for solving the case would bear devastating results for world peace and stability.
