Iranian Navy saves Chinese cargo ship from pirates

Tehran, April 7, IRNA -- Deputy Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Gholam-Reza Khadem Bigham said on Saturday that the Iranian naval forces successfully saved a Chinese cargo ship from pirates in the Oman Sea.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Iranian Navy, during the military operation nine pirates were arrested by the Iranian forces.
The military operation took about seven hours on Friday night in which nine pirates were arrested and 23 crews of the Chinese cargo ship carrying ironware were rescued. The ship later continued its trip towards Iranian territorial waters.
