Iraq Says Iran Wants Nuclear Talks In Baghdad

April 04, 2012

Iraq's Foreign Ministry says Iran has proposed holding the next round of talks with six world powers on Tehran's disputed nuclear program next week in Iraq, instead of Turkey.

The ministry said an Iranian delegation visited Baghdad on April 3 to pass on the request.

On March 31, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the April 13-14 negotiations with Iran would be held in Istanbul.

It would be the first such meeting since January 2011 when the two sides failed even to agree on an agenda.
