IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, March 28, IRNA -- First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said on Wednesday that Iran welcomes Turkey hosting the upcoming nuclear talks with the G5+1.

Addressing a joint press conference with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Teyyip Erodgan here on Wednesday, Rahimi said Iran's stance on peaceful use of nuclear technology is clear to the whole world and Turkey has witnessed Iran's transparent stances in that regard due to its proximity to Iran and having cordial relations with the country.

Noting that Iran has made huge investment in peaceful nuclear technology, Rahimi said, 'Based on Islamic law, we can have no other program but peaceful use of nuclear technology and the Supreme Leader too has explicitly announced this.'

Rahimi said, 'The West does not liekour progress and is willing to monopolize nuclear technology but we are ready to put peaceful nuclear technology at the service of all our friends and brothers, especially Turkey. Turkey has always been a supporter and friend of Iran, defending its right stances in different forums.'

Rahimi said the volume of Iran-Turkey trade exchanges will rise by 100 percent to USD 30 billion in the next three years from USD 16 billion in 2011. 'Today we decided with our Turkish friends to increase the volume of commercial exchanges to USD 30 billion in three years. We are also to upgrade volume of mutual ties in all domains.'

Since two years ago when Mr. Erdogan visited Tehran, the volume of trade exchanges between Tehran and Ankara has risen by 50 percent and today, we are determined to upgrade it by 100 percent, hoping it will hit USD 30 billion in the near future, he added.

Terming Tehran-Ankara relations as 'very cordial and sincere,' Rahimi said in today's talks one more giant step was taken towards consolidation of bilateral friendships.
