Supreme Leader appoints new EC members

Tehran, March 14, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in a decree on Wednesday appointed the new members of the EC for the next five years.
In his decree, the Supreme Leader praised the EC members for their effort to solve problems facing the country and render great service to the Iranian people.
Ayatollah Khamenei thanked the ex-members of the arbitrative body for their great endeavors and services.
Ayatollah Khamenei reinstated Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani as the chairman of the body.
The new legal and real entities appointed by the Supreme Leader to the Expediency Council are as follows:
a. Heads of three branches of the government
b. Senior jurisprudents of the Guardians Council
c. Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council
d. Minister or head of the administative bodies whose case may be referred to the EC for discussion
e. Head of the commission charged with following up the related case in Majlis.
The new members of the EC are as follows:
Hosein Mohammadi, Mohammad Hossein Saffar Harandi, Ahmad Vahidi, Gholamreza Mesbahi Moqaddam.
The Expediency Council arbitrates in disputes between Majlis and the Guardians Council which vets legislation for adherence to Islam and the Constitution.
